So waaay back in June, my college roommate Megan got married. It was a fitting event to celebrate our 10-year college "reunion" with my hockey teammates from UD!
Perhaps the next day (?) we went to a carnival with Jared, Gina, and the kiddos. They LOVE those things! Face painting, games, prizes, and...
CANDY!!!
Balloons!
Kate tried her hand at water balloon launching...
There are lots of free summer concerts around here, and we try to hit a few when we can, so the kids can dance and we can enjoy some time outside...
And then of course, there's the beach! I have no idea how this picture found its way to this spot, as it doesn't seem placed correctly, but it's cute!
With Jesse and I splitting time watching the kids during the summer, they certainly get their fair share of fun activities to keep them busy. A regular (free!) hot spot is Storyville at one of the county libraries. It's an interactive little "town" for the kids, I've posted about it before, and they love everything about it, including the market where they can "beep" the food at the register!
And deliver the mail as the post-girl!
This was post-carnival snuggles for the kiddos...
Now that Kate is in a booster car seat, it's clearly less comfortable for her to sleep in the car, but sometimes...she just can't help it!
Another fun summer activity was the regular outing to a local mall for their sing-a-long each week. Every few weeks new guests come to entertain the kids, and this particular week they asked for volunteers to come up and sing a song about friends, which Kate knew from school, so she excitedly raised her hand and got chosen to stand up and sing. Despite her dreadfully rainbow-y outfit, it was adorable!
Then it was off to our farm where we are part of a CSA (community supported agriculture) to pick up the weekly share. Not far away is a HUGE playground that Kate and Jack love, so we stopped there to play for awhile on the way. Kate usually practices her balance beam, monkey bars, (kid friendly) rope climbing, etc before they both race towards the swings...
And swing we do, all. the. time! Jack still loves his rocket ship!
Even cleaning is fun in the summertime!
Hello!
These pictures make me smile, because the one above is Jackson at the playground at Cromwell Valley Elementary School right up the street from our old apartments, where I took Kate so often when she was....well, just about his size! And below is grown-up Kate doing something she was never even trying back then...ah, how time flies
I was able to meet up every now and then with my mommy-group girls and their babes throughout the summer, and on this particular day I met up with Sarah and Xander at the library, where the boys decided they were older than they are at the computer!
Man, we had a fun summer. Nana came to visit so we could head down the street to a free outdoor movie (The Muppets) which is another great perk to living around here!
And since Jack can't stay up late to watch outdoor movies, he spent time with Nana indoors reading books instead!
One of our favorite food spots around here is Pei Wei, and somehow the goggles made their way inside with us...and onto her head during lunch!
Most fun item at Pei Wei? CHOPSTICKS!
And finally...a good chunk of beach pics. We made our way down to Rehoboth a couple of times to enjoy the beach, the sun, Grotto's and of course Fun Land!
At first Jack wasn't sure he'd enjoy the rides as much as the older kids, but we tossed him in there, and he ended up begging to stay on at the end of each one instead!
Fun times = sacked out kids!
This is a naked Kate taking a dip in a mini pool at Tyler & Fopper's vacation spot on the Bay here in Maryland. I don't know why she was naked. I just recall her being naked. And the pool was chlorinated, don't worry!
And we were visiting the Bay house over Father's Day weekend, so Kate joined Daddy on a little fishing trip at the dock.
...until Jack and I came to break up the quiet little party
Even a trip to Target provides entertainment for this one!
Or, ya know, just playing dress up in the play room...
riding the waves in the dining room...
Daddy's intern Tyler graduated this spring, so we celebrated at his graduation party in June at his uncle's in-ground pool. We knew about 5 people at the party, but Kate got out of our car, walked up the driveway, through the garage, out the back door, kicked off her flops and walked right down the steps into the pool - she LOVES to swim!
Another pool play date, this time at Melissa and Reagan's pool!
And a late-month visit with the Fo's to round out the month...
